Our company founder, Dusty,
started working on speakers when one of his vintage blackface
amplifiers stopped delivering the shimmering tone it used to,
ordering several “modern vintage” replacements, and
being disappointed with the tone, build quality and aesthetics
of the available replacement equipment.
What began as a desire
for authentic and high-quality gear, led our intrepid leader to
identify the qualities that made those OEM speakers so good, and
so highly prized among informed and demanding tone-hounds. Over
the years, Dusty developed an encyclopedic understanding of vintage
audio drivers and created an expansive arsenal of resources, skills,
materials and proprietary techniques to bring speakers back to
the maximum possible functionality and performance.
Our production facilities, located
in Danbury, CT - the gateway to New England - are more likely
to evoke, to the untrained eye, an artisan’s workshop rather than a precision, high-tech repair facility. However,
in this space resides all the precision tools, custom-built jigs
and templates, specialty glues, papers, gaskets, etc. and most
importantly, the knowledge and skills necessary to revive the
magic of these speakers and .
